Cash's Mid-Year Update

Friday, February 17, 2012

I met with Cash's teacher, Ms. Terry, last Tuesday for a mid-year school update. While it may sound funny that I'm already having a parent/teacher conference about my 20 month old, I must say that I am so glad that we found such a great place for Cash to spend each day where he learns so much and gains so much structure. It definitely makes my job easier and Cash seems to love going there.

I learned from Ms. Terry that Cash is doing well with his gross motor skills - great at walking on his tiptoes and walking backwards, working on jumping and standing on one foot. He's expressing his emotions well and appropriately, playing with others and sharing, and has exceptional manners. She said that he loves saying "thank you" and that when they hear it across the room they know immediately that it's Cash. He's starting to verbalize better but still hasn't said his name so we are going to work on that at home. Overall, Ms. Terry said that Cash has a sweet and quirky little personality and thanked me for bringing him to AAI Pharma Learning Center. While it pretty much confirmed my own beliefs, it's always nice to hear.

In other news, we're coming to the end of a full week that Ross has been away for a work trip. Cash has dealt with it pretty well and seems to be adjusting to our work travel, which is good since I leave for a three day trip this Monday. We can't wait for Daddy to get back this weekend...it's been a long week.

Here's a little video of Cash working on his fine motor skills with puzzles. We have a bit of work to do.

Elmo Love

Sunday, February 12, 2012
Elmo has become a constant in our household as of late. Whenever we are in the living room, Cash will run over to the tv, point, and shout "Momo, Momo". Usually, we relent and let him watch a 20 minute Elmo's World or else we won't hear the end of it. Here's Cash this morning after in the afterglow of watching some "Momo":

Meeting Cousin Lucy!

Thursday, February 9, 2012

This weekend we hosted Uncle Charlie, Aunt Fiona and baby cousin Lucy here in Wilmington. They were gracious enough to stop by on their month-long vacation in the US. Uncle Charlie works in offshore drilling in SE Asia so we only get to visit once a year and they have a lot of people to try to see in their short time home so we were happy that they were able to come and stay with us for a long weekend. Lucy is almost three months old and seems to handle traveling like a little expert already. She's a great baby and such a cutie!

We got Cash ready for the Lucy's visit all week by bringing out his old baby toys and showing him some movies with babies in them and talking about how Lucy was coming to visit. I think it worked because Cash was a tiny gentleman with Lucy and just wanted to either pet her or help her most of the time. If Lucy's paci fell out, Cash was determined to get it back in her mouth. If she made a squeak, then Cash wanted to pet her head to calm her down. It was very cute. He didn't really like it all that much when Mommy or Daddy held Lucy but he didn't get too out of sorts about it, he just would come by and try to be held at the same time. Overall, I was happy with his reaction since we would like to give Cash a sibling at some point in the near future.

We're already counting down the days until Thanksmas when we get to see them again. Safe travels back to Malaysia!
