10 months old

This post is a little bit late but things have been busy for good and bad reasons in the Inman household as of late. The good is that we bought a house early this month! Exciting, but a lot of work. Before moving in we've been doing some renovating so I've spent a lot of the daytime coordinating contractors and such and then after putting Cash to bed at night, doing my full time normal job. Ross has been going to the house most evenings after work to paint, rip up floors, etc. However, soon we should be able to move in and then we can do our work all in one house. As for the bad, Cash has been sick most of the past month with continuous ear infections. It got so bad last weekend that he just didn't seem like the same baby. He was lethargic, not eating, just off in general. After finding out that he had contracted a double ear infection after being on a series of antibiotics all month long, the doctor has now said that Cash needs to get ear tubes put in. He was given a series of two nasty shots to get rid of this infection but it's only a matter of time before another one comes back. So Monday we are off to the Ear,Nose and Throat doctor for a consultation and then hopefully scheduling the surgery soon, before another infection sets in. While it's not an ideal situation, we have only heard good things from other parents who's kids have had the same procedure so we think that it is the best thing for our little guy.

However, through the sickness Cash persevered and grew a lot this month. He is now close to 20lbs and is pulling himself up to stand all the time. He is starting to try to cruise around a bit and pulls one hand off whatever he is using to balance like the little daredevil he is. His babbling is constant and "mama" is a favorite word, bless his little heart. He loves eating table food much more than pureed food and is eating beans, corn, fish, chicken, crackers, waffles, cheese, goldfish, amongst other things. We still need to work on the sippy cup - it's not really his forte but I haven't pushed it a lot so that's probably on me. He is sleeping through the night (except when sick which is understandable) and still loves to go to bed early around 6:30pm. His hair is getting more blond and more curly which is adorable and I hope I never have to cut it. He's still the happiest of babies and we love him so much!

When Daddy's away...

Ross went away on a business trip last week. I decided to perk up his time gone by sending some pictures of Cash via text of our nightly and morning rituals so he wouldn't feel left out.

So this was what he saw before going to bed:

New toy...

Cash has a new favorite toy that he makes a beeline for whenever the bathroom door is open. Oh the screaming that occurred when mommy took his new toy away...

Baby souvenir project complete!

I finally had a chance to finish a project I've been planning since Cash was born - a shadowbox frame displaying all of his newborn memorabilia. I found the idea on a random nursery decorating blog and have been storing up all of the stuff for some time now. After Ross went to get spray paint for the brand new corn hole lawn game set we are the proud owners of, I knew I finally had the chance to paint the middle C and finish the project.

I found the perfect black frame at AC Moore. It's about 8 X 11 size which is more than sufficient. I liked the idea of a shadowbox so that I could keep adding stuff but I think its pretty full and it seems complete. Right now it contains:

A wooden C I picked up on the cheap at KMart and painted black
Cash's footprints from the hospital
His birth announcement
His last (and best) ultrasound pic
The card with his stats that was on his bassinet at the hospital
The hat they first put on him at the hospital
A homemade card with a button from our good friend Ben's parents congratulating us

Since we will be moving into our new home soon (fingers crossed and more on that later) I'll be able to hang stuff up in Cash's room again. I have a lot of plans and this shadowbox is the first of them.

I'm not particularly crafty but I think it turned out pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

Looking out the window

Cash's new favorite 6am activity is climbing on top of our pillows, holding onto the headboard and looking out the windows as the cars drive by. He's also started to try to take the bed post out of the frame every morning and bang it around as you'll see in the video. This time he was unsuccessful.

iPhone Photo Fun

I finally have an iPhone again! Oh happy day! On Labor Day weekend last fall, I had the misfortune to leave my iPhone on the Amtrak train we were taking back from a weekend trip to PA. That phone basically got me through maternity leave and breastfeeding. There was many an early morning hour that I sat on the couch, breastfeeding Cash and since I could just scroll through my iPhone using one hand, was able to easily keep myself amused and also not disturb him with the noise of the tv. On our plane trip to Texas, I was actually able to read most of a novel using the Kindle app while I held Cash and he slept. No way I would have been able to page through a regular magazine or book.

Since the price of buying an iPhone outright is redonks, I pulled together all of my internal strength and fortitude and waited until my upgrade went into effect at the end of February to get a new one. And now since AT&T has some competition from Verizon, I got the 3GS for just 49 bucks! So basically it was such a steal that I couldn't NOT buy it (or at least that's what I told Ross).

One of the many great things about the iPhone is the camera, which is basically on par with my crappy point and shoot. And since I constantly have it on my person (and never bring my camera anywhere) I get so many more pics of Cash. A win win if you ask me.
