This week, Cash had a lot of firsts. Last Sunday, it was his first big outing for the afternoon when we took him to our friends the Boyce's apartment in Brooklyn to watch the World Cup final. It involved two cab rides and about 3 hours away from home. Cash was great during the time away, not so great once we got home. We think it was a bit too much excitement for him and he expressed his displeasure afterwards by crying for three solid hours. However this did not turn into the beginnings of colic which I began to panic about around hour 2.
During the week, I stepped up the tummy time routine and got Cash to do three solid minutes everyday for the first time. He still likes lying on his back much better.
On Thursday, Cash met his cousin Sam for the first time. It took Sam awhile to make it to our apartment because he was very busy with impromptu kickball games but Cash and him took to each other right away and Sam even offered to babysit once he figures out how to change a diaper. Ross and I aren't planning our big night out just yet.
Finally, this past weekend was Ross and Cash's first weekend on their own. I wasn't really away from the City but it felt like it since I was hosting some bachelorette and bridal shower festivities for my best friend Candace. I spent most of the weekend going back and forth between partying and the apartment. Ross and Cash got some good long stretches of quality time in which required more than one bottle feeding by Ross. Unfortunately, Cash was not at all happy with this situation and proceeded to cry and scream about it to his Dad for a couple of hours at a time. These next few weeks we have to work on the bottle situation since we will be leaving Cash with his grandparents for a couple of days when Ross and I go to the actual wedding in Colorado.
